
Kidney Disease Improving Global Outcome (KDIGO) was established in 2003 as an independently incorporated, non-profit foundation, governed by an International Board of Directors with the stated mission to improve the care of and outcome of kidney disease patients worldwide through promoting coordination, collaboration, and integration of initiatives to develop and implement clinical practice guidelines
Clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) are systematically developed statements to assist practitioners and patients in choosing appropriate heath care for specific conditions on the basis of available evidence. So far, they have published 3 guidelines (Hepatitis C, CKD mineral and bone disorder & Care of kidney transplant recipient) which are available on their website (www.kdigo.org) and 3 others are in development (AKI, GN & HTN).
The next step is implementation, so Task Force has been formed with 6 members representing North America, Central and South America, Eastern Europe, Western Europe , Asia Pacific and Middle East/Africa. The main task is to help promote awareness, dissemination, adoption and clinical integration of KDIGO clinical practice guideline among your colleague nephrologists and physicians through nephrology and transplantation societies during their conferences and all sorts of gatherings or via their websites, newsletters, or any other way of communication with members
